Making handicraft is one of my all-time favourite activities. For me it always feels fantastic to create little pretty things, and today I’m going to talk about one of the things I created and was absolutely proud of.

It was what we called a paper bag puppet. Yeah the name says it all. It was a simple handmade puppet whose frame is one of those cheap white or brown paper bags which people often use to contain takeaway meals.

The occasion, as I remember, was when we had to put up a puppet show in class to retell a story we learned earlier. It was an activity organized by our Literature teacher to have us practice narration skills. It was actually an assessment task, but eventually it turned out to be an exciting and amusing performance we all enjoyed.

As for the process of making the puppet, it was quite straightforward. After collecting all necessary materials, I drew and cut the features out of construction paper, the eyes, nose, and tongue, you know. Then, I glued them on the paper bag. And for the final touch, I used some coloured markers to add a few decorative details.

Well, I have to say I really had a lot of fun making and playing with it. It surprised me how making a puppet sounded as if it would involve tough work, but in fact it was just a piece of cake.
