Strawberry Watermelon Cake

I cannot say that I have a sweet tooth; however, I savor a piece of cake every once in a while. And recently, I had the opportunity to taste a super delicious cake during my trip to Sydney, Australia.

My stay in Sydney lasted for 8 days from October 21 to the 29, and I was lucky enough to try this yummy dessert on the second day of my arrival. The cake was called ‘strawberry watermelon cake’, and it was Thang – a close friend of mine who suggested that I give it a try. He said that it was one of the most popular choices for dessert for people in Sydney CBD, and after I tasted I understood why.

The cake is sold at Black Star Pastry, and it’s the shop’s signature and most requested cake so far. Like the name mentioned, it consists of two layers of almond meringue, rose-scented cream, watermelon, strawberries and garnished with pistachios and dried rose petals. Not only did it look appealing, but also I must say it was so tasty.

I really enjoyed this cake because unlike others which are usually very sweet and dry, the strawberry watermelon cake was creamy, moist, and less sugary due to the fact that it contained a layer of fresh watermelon and lots of strawberries on top. If you get the chance, I would definitely recommend it.
